Katrina Atkinson
Artist

Katrina's latest body of work explore themes around children and technology. Younger and younger children are using phones and iPads but  what impact is this having on their developing brains? The 'Big Baby' series of work explores society and the family unit in the twenty-first century and the impact of technology. Are we losing the ability to communicate to our fellow human, are children becoming so reliant on the digital world that they are struggling to live in the physical world? It seems children are suffering more than ever with poor mental health and lack the resilience to function in society. What is the catalyst for our children to be so anguished? Could it be that the world seems so small and accessible to them that, consequently, dangers appear so huge? Are we coddling our children so much that we are not allowing them to develop the durability needed for life?

Katrina will be facilitating several workshops for adults and children over the Arts Trail weekend, with proceeds going to charity; specific details will be provided nearer the time .

She offers weekly classes and workshops, to both adults and children, at her Art School in Cheddar as well as teaching A level Art at Weston College.
