The atmosphere of the local Mendip landscape inspires me to make monochromatic drawings using charcoal or graphite.
More recently I have been exploring printmaking techniques, in particular monotypes, as a medium through which I can achieve the changing moods and wonderful contrasts of light and dark.
In contrast, I have found that mark-making with vibrant pastels allows me to describe the Mendip Hills as well as the dramatic landscape of Dartmoor, which I also love, in a manner that suits the direct way I like to work.
